Founded in 2022 and based in New York City, our company takes inspiration from the chic street style and eclectic culture of the West Village neighborhood. The name “99 Jane Street” refers to an imaginary address in this iconic downtown Manhattan area.
Our Story
The idea for 99 Jane Street® emerged when our founder, Jane Smith, became frustrated trying to find cute and comfortable sweaters, dresses, tops, and accessories that didn’t cost a fortune. As a busy career woman living in NYC, Jane wanted affordable, quality basics and trendy statement pieces that could effortlessly transition from work to weekends.
After years of searching unsuccessfully for her perfect fashion vision, Jane decided to create it herself. She partnered with her childhood best friend, Liz Jones, who brought decades of apparel sourcing and design expertise to the venture. Together, our founders set out to build the destination for timeless wardrobe essentials and playful styling at prices working women could actually afford.
99 Jane Street® launched in 2022 as a women-owned ecommerce startup based in Manhattan. We began with a small selection of cotton crewneck sweaters in every color, like our signature Jane Crew. Our collection has since expanded to include versatile dresses, button-down shirts, cardigans, denim, outerwear, loungewear, and so much more. While we’ve grown over the years, our original ethos remains the same: to empower women to look and feel their best, without breaking the bank.

We are proud that our products are made in factories providing fair wages, reasonable hours, and safe working conditions for their employees. We partner with suppliers who share our values around social and environmental responsibility.
To reduce textile waste, we use sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, recycled polyester, and low-impact Tencel lyocell. We work to minimize our carbon footprint and offset the emissions we do create. We package orders in recycled boxes with compostable fillers like newspaper.
One percent of every order helps support nonprofits empowering disadvantaged women through vocational skills training and education. To date, we have donated over $100,000 to local and global charities serving women in need.
